BCCHS student leaders, in partnership with the San Fernando Valley Partnership, successfully advocated before the Los Angeles City Council Public Safety Committee for stronger actions on Nitrous oxide. Through the Pathways to Prevention Project, participants urged the city to address the sale of banned hemp-derived products and other high-risk substances that remain easily accessible to young people, contributing to the growth, visibility, and normalization of nitrous oxide in their communities. Grounded in their lived experiences and campus-based prevention work. Their testimony helped elevate the urgency of this issue are demonstrated in the Power of youth-led, environmental policy change. Their advocacy represents an important step towards strengthening local efforts to reduce the availability of harmful products and retail environments, particularly near schools and other youth-sensitive locations.
