Dear Families,
We want to let you know that YPI Charter Schools, including Bert Corona Charter School, Monseñor Oscar Romero Charter School, and Bert Corona Charter High School, will stay open even if LAUSD labor unions go on strike this week. Your child's learning will not stop. The staff at YPICS do not belong to the LAUSD unions. We promise to keep giving our students a safe, high quality learning experience without any interruptions, which is the priority of our school communities.
The LAUSD unions announced that a work stoppage would begin on Tuesday, April 14. Currently, the Los Angeles Unified School District is still talking with its unions. UTLA, the union for teachers, and AALA, the union for adminstrators, said today that they have reached a tentative agreement. SEIU Local 99, the union for other workers, is still negotiating their contract with the District. If the District can't reach an agreement with all three unions, the strike will happen as planned and LAUSD schools will be closed.

Queremos informarles que las escuelas autónomas de YPI, incluidas la escuela secundaria Bert Corona, la escuela secundaria Monseñor Oscar Romero y la escuela preparatoria Bert Corona, permanecerán abiertas incluso si los sindicatos del LAUSD se declaran en huelga esta semana. SEIU 99, el sindicato que representan a otros trabajadores, aún están negociando sus contratos con el Distrito. Si el Distrito no logra llegar a un acuerdo con los tres sindicatos, la huelga se llevará a cabo según lo previsto y las escuelas del distrito escolar de Los Ángeles (LAUSD) permanecerán cerradas.
