CalArts Community Arts Partnership is a co-curricular program of CalArts that offers after school and school based arts programs in every discipline taught at the institute. After much collaboration between our Visual Media Arts school staff and CalArts, BCCHS will add three additional course offerings including animation, costume design, and graphic design. These classes will be taught by CalArts alumni and faculty. These additions will serve to help students refine, strengthen, and expand the skills they’ve already developed during their time in our visual and media arts program. We are very excited and eager to begin this collaboration!
We are also very fortunate to have the support of Proyecto del Barrio. Proyecto del Barrio’s mission is to provide health and human services in communities with underserved populations. During the previous school year students participated in a focus group where many asked for employment opportunities and job skills training. Thanks to Proyecto del Barrio’s YouthSource program, a program funded by the Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department, seven of our students are currently employed to work on our campus. Several others are on track to start working soon!
Thank you again to CalArts Community Arts Partnership and to El Proyecto del Barrio for supporting our students' success both on and off the campus!
