College Ready

A-G Coursework

The path to college begins with taking high school coursework required for admission to a university. At BCCHS, students take courses that meet the requirements for admission to the California State University and University of California systems. At a minimum scholars need to complete any 11 UC approved “a-g” courses by the end of junior year (including courses taken in the summer between junior and senior year) each with a grade of “C” or better. In all, you need to complete 15 courses by the end of senior year.

College Advising

Individualized college counselingAt Bert Corona Charter High School, College & Career Advising takes an individualized approach to each scholar's college process and post-secondary plans. Our primary objective is supporting scholars in becoming College Ready, Active Citizens, and Life-long Learners (CRACLL). We want our scholars to be “College Ready” by supporting them in meeting the A-G requirements and assisting families to find universities that match their scholar’s academic and career aspirations. This means seeking environments where they can thrive, and continue to evolve as “Active Citizens” and “Life-long Learners” in the community of choice. We want our scholars to challenge themselves and to step outside their comfort zone and consider options that are in alignment with their interests while continuing to evolve as scholars.
