Mission / Vision

The mission of the YPICS is the prepare students for academic success in high school, as well as post-secondary education; prepare students to be responsible and active participants in their community; and enable students to become life-long learners.  Students at YPICS will become active citizens who characterize the ideals of a diverse and democratic society.  Students will provide service to their community, take responsibility for their own learning, and develop the habits of mind and body that will empower them to be successful in high school and beyond. 

 

 

Bert Corona Charter High School will be a dynamic learning organization that engages its communities, strengthens its schools, and transforms learning.  

 

Bert Corona Charter High School equips urban students in grades 6-8 for academic success and active community participation.  The school is located in the Pico Union Area of Los Angeles, California.  The majority of students attending schools in this area come from predominantly Latino families where Spanish is often spoken at home.  Bert Corona Charter High School seeks to close the achievement gap for our students by providing clear and high expectations for all students, a personalized and supportive learning environment that recognizes students’ accomplishments, family-school-community partnerships and service, and integrated technology in the classroom.

 

Inspired by Bert Corona, students at Bert Corona Charter High School will become active citizens characterized by the ideals of a diverse and democratic society. Our students will provide service to their community, take responsibility for their own learning, and develop the habits of mind that will empower them to be successful in high school and beyond.
