Mr. Juan J.  Matias Lopez is a second-year Special Education Resource Teacher at Bert Corona Charter High School for 9th and 10th grade.

He is a first-generation Mexican Salvadoran American and the first of his family to attend college. Mr. Matias recently graduated from California State University, Northridge with his Bachelor's in Liberal Studies Special Education Mild/Moderate, and is an ITEP Junior recipient. Currently, he is working towards a Master's in Special Education.

Throughout his life, he has been an advocate of the disability community and in different organizations that provided outside resources and programs for individuals with disabilities. Growing up with a sibling with a severe disability while also learning to work with his learning disability and ADHD, Mr. Matias Is no stranger to struggle in education and personal family life.

For this Academic School year, he is excited to be working with the students of BCCHS and preparing them for the next step in their lives.
